Historically speaking, Massachusetts is known as the landing place of the Pilgrims in 1620 at Plymouth, as well as being the home of Moto-X 338 in Southwick. The track is owned by American Legion Post 338, hence the official name of Moto-X 338, commonly referred to simply as Southwick. The first race at the track was held in 1972 and its first professional race was in 1976. Southwick is the only sand track on the circuit, making the conditions especially challenging for both the riders and the engines which have to run much harder than usual to pull through the soft surface.
Josh Grant fell victim to the Southwick sand in the first practice session, crashing and injuring his left shoulder. An initial examination by the on-site Asterisk Mobil |
