AMA SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 7

60,019 fans came to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana to watch round seven of the AMA Supercross Championship. Josh Grant, who has attended every event thus far while recovering from shoulder surgery to sign autographs and greet fans, was not at Indianapolis. Grant has begun intensely preparing for his return to racing. He is working closely with his doctors to determine the appropriate time to resume competing, and expects to start riding this week. Josh and his doctors will decide the date of his return. Michael Byrne and Justin Brayton both transferred to the main event directly from their respective heat races without incident. In the main event Brayton gated well and was in the lead pack while Byrne was the victim of some major contact in the first turn and forced to mount a charge from the rear of the field. While Byrne worked through a crowd of back-markers, Brayton, a rookie in the premier division advanced into the top-five and finished the race a Supercross Class career best fourth overall, just one spot off the podium. Byrne was able to work his way up to a hard fought 13th at the finish.
